Breaking News!

September 10, 2003

The following announcement was distributed to the Friends mailing list on September 10, 2003:

Dear Friends,

We bring you tidings of great joy. The Park Advisory Commission's offer for Dicken Woods was formally accepted by the Bishop and the Catholic Diocese of Lansing as of late Friday afternoon.

We are overjoyed.

The final step is that the City Council must formally approve the purchase. We do not believe that this presents any problems but are contacting all representatives to discuss the woods and answer any questions.

What remains for us to do is the following. First, please pay your pledges within the next two weeks. We will need this check for the property closing in October. If you have not made a pledge and are so moved, please consider a pledge by contacting me or Deb Norbotten.

We would also like to get a great turnout at the city council meeting on Monday--more details to follow.

Folks, this has been an incredible journey. Let's keep the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment up as we cross the finish line.

Erik Stalhandske
President Friends of Dicken Woods
On behalf of the Steering Comittee
